PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge bubbles or deteriorated ink by preventing the ink from being wastefully consumed in a purging operation. SOLUTION: An amount of ink reserved in an ink tank is detected (S101). An operational condition of an air pump that allows an air pressure in the ink tank to be a purge pressure is determined based on the amount of ink (S102). Communication between an air tank and the ink tank is closed (S103). The air pump is driven according to the determined operational condition (S104). After that, the air tank and the ink tank are allowed to communicate with each other (S105).
