PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time to be required to trace an article distribution route. SOLUTION: This article management method comprises a step for transmitting a predetermined article group tracing instruction from a terminal in one point to one of all the upstream terminals and all the downstream terminals related to distribution of the corresponding article group, a first receiver terminal step for transmitting connection information from each of the first receiver terminals, which receives the tracing instruction in the described step, to the instructing terminal and for transmitting the tracing instruction to all the terminals arranged in the adjacent point on a distribution side opposite to the instructing terminal and related to distribution of the corresponding article group, a second receiver terminal step for transmitting the connection information from each of the receiver terminals and for transmitting the tracing instruction to all the terminals arranged in the adjacent point on a distribution side opposite to the first receiver terminal and related to distribution of the corresponding article group, a repetition step for repeatedly carrying out the first and the second receiver terminal steps, and a step for computing the distribution route of the traced article group in the instructing terminal on the basis of the collected several connection information.
