IMAGE READER, PROGRAM AND RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for supporting such a user who has a difficulty in visually recognizing the content of a document to set the document in correct direction. SOLUTION: The image reader which can be operated by not using visual information but using tactile and hearing information as a clue comprises: a section 1 for reading the document surface; a section 3 for extracting the character region of an image read in at the image read-in section 1; a section 4 for judging in which direction the upper side of the document is set on the contact glass by judging the direction of individual characters in the character region extracted at the character region extracting section 3; and a voice synthesis section 6 for notifying the results from the document direction judging section 4 in the form of a voice message.
