PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate an initial operation and to improve setting precision by definitely making lens diaphragm control of a television camera operable even during slight opening/closing adjustment. SOLUTION: The television camera having a lens part capable of controlling a diaphragm and an imaging part for imaging incident light from the lens part and outputting a video signal, comprises a setting part for setting a diaphragm value of the lens part, a lens control part for controlling the diaphragm of the lens part in accordance with the setting value of the setting part, a vibration signal generating part for generating a signal for accelerating an initial operation of the diaphragm in accordance with an output signal level of the lens control part and an adder for adding an output signal of the lens control part and an output signal of the vibration signal generating part, and controls the diaphragm of the lens part by a signal obtained, in the adder, by adding the output signal of the vibration signal generating part to the output signal of the lens control part.
