<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set pressing of an intermediate transfer belt and an intermediate transfer belt cleaning device when a unit is fixed to the main body of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A press release member is provided for holding a tension roller in the state in which the tension roller is moved to the position for reducing the tension of the intermediate transfer belt by a prescribed amount. The press release member is pressed by a part of the cleaning device so as to be released when fixing the intermediate transfer belt cleaning device to an intermediate transfer unit. When mounting only the intermediate transfer unit alone to the image apparatus main body, the part of the intermediate transfer belt cleaning device is brought into contact with the press release member so that the press release member of the tension roller is dislocated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
