The invention is directed to a cable tape which can swell in a predetermined direction, as well as to a method for manufacturing such a cable tape and cables in which such cable tape is incorporated. According to the present invention there is provided a cable tape comprising water-swelling material in or on a fibrous base web, being covered by an open-textured fibrous web, wherein at least said fibrous base web, and optionally said open-textured fibrous web, is impregnated with at least one binding agent. According to the present invention there is also provided a method for manufacturing such a cable tape and a cable in which such cable tape is incorporated. |
