Magnetic resonance antenna, e.g. for medical imaging, has high frequency switching elements for frequency tuning, connected to common switching wires

The antenna has parallel longitudinal rods in a bird cage structure. A number of high frequency switching elements (8,8a,8b) are provided for interrupting at least a part of the rods to tune the natural resonant frequency of the antenna. The high frequency switching elements are connected to at least one common switching wire (9,10) running from outside the bird cage structure to the high frequency switching elements. An independent claim is included for a method of tuning the natural frequency of a magnetic resonance antenna.
