The invention relates to a plain bearing having a protective shell and a bearing coating made of a bearing metal and applied to this protective shell. In order to obtain information concerning the serviceable life of the plain bearing, the invention provides that the bearing coating supports a top layer that forms an overlay whose thickness corresponds, at most, to the wear of the top layer expected during the average serviceable life of the bearing coating. |
