A WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system having a PS(Packet Switched) service notification function and a controlling method thereof are provided to enable a WCDMA subscriber terminal that simultaneously receives PS and CS(Circuit Switched) services to notify of arrival of the PS service through a CS domain if the PS service is unavailable, thus the terminal can use the PS service when a response to a call through a PS domain does not exist. From an initial state(S1), it is confirmed whether the current terminal is detached or does not receive a response to a call(S2). If so, a GGSN(GPRS Gateway Serving Node) requests an HLR(Home Location Register) to send an MSC address where a subscriber is positioned, when routing information for a receiving subscriber is requested(S3). The HLR transmits a message to the GGSN by including the MSC address as well as an SGSN(Serving GPRS Support Node) address in the message(S4). The GGSN obtains MSC address-related information, and sends the obtained information to an SGSN(S5). The SGSN transmits an MSC PS service notification message to activate the corresponding terminal(S6).
