A driving method of a plasma display panel is provided to prevent abnormal discharge generated when biased charges are accumulated in a display panel, by executing auxiliary discharge. In a method for driving a plasma display panel having plural first electrodes(X) and plural second electrodes(Y) aligned adjacently to each other in turn and third electrodes(A) formed across the first and second electrodes, and applying erase pulse with the gentle inclination to the second electrode applying scan pulse, in a reset period, the pulse voltage is suddenly changed until reaching the level of the scan pulse in the final stage of the erase pulse. In addition, a control circuit executes auxiliary discharge to reduce wall charges accumulated in a display cell in which the sustain discharge is not to be generated, to the level enough to prevent the sustain discharge.
