A plasma display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the storage capacity of a memory of a control unit by generating various gamma curves according to a user's choice from one basic gamma curve. A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel having plural discharge cells, and a control unit(200) for generating a control signal for driving the plasma display panel and correcting first input image data correspondingly to the characteristic of the plasma display panel. The control unit receives a value from a user, generates a first gamma curve corresponding to the value, generates the corrected second image data by corresponding the image data to the first gamma curve, and applies a correction table storing output data corresponding to each input data if an input gray scale value is lower than a reference value.
