PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient waste treating apparatus of which the capacity can be utilized to the maximum by realizing the leveling operation of a crusher even if the mass of matter to be crushed varies widely. SOLUTION: The first refrigerator is lifted by an air cylinder 12 after measuring the mass, fed to a charging device 2, and charged into the crusher 1 for crushing. The succeeding refrigerator is weighed to obtain the mass (e.g. 40 kg), and measured in the same way as the first refrigerator and the time (e.g. 40 s) for charging the third refrigerator to the crusher is set. Then, the second refrigerator is charged 50 s after charging the first refrigerator to the crusher. As stated above, since the time for charging the succeeding matter to be crushed is decided corresponding to the mass of the matter to be crushed and the treating capacity of the crusher to charge and crush the matter, the operation of the crusher can be leveled even if the mass of the matter to be crushed varies widely, the operation close to no load is not carried out, and the possibility of overload operation and choking of the crusher can be minimized.
