The sides of the tool slide along guide rods (22) which, together with the core members (14, 16), are attached to the base (12) of the tool. The sides consist of a support part (26) and a movable contoured jaw (28) that slides transversely along guide pins (34, 36). When the tool is open the jaw (28) can be retracted against a spring by an actuating cylinder (54) to provide a gap into which a wrap-around label can be inserted. An independent claim is included for the process of attaching a label that wraps around a crate by using a tool side with a movable jaw that is retracted to insert the label and locked in the correct position during the injection molding phase.
