PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make normal reproduction possible on a reproduction side even if multi-channels are selectively transmitted by compression or non-compression and even if down-mixing on the reproduction side is selectively permitted or inhibited. SOLUTION: An ATSI (audio title set information) includes a first identifier to indicate whether or not a multichannel data within an audio packet is compressed and a second identifier to indicate whether the down-mixing of the multichannel data in stereo two channels is permitted or inhibited. Thus, for example, since not only the identifier to indicate whether or not the multichannel data is compressed but also the identifier to indicate whether the down-mixing of the multichannel data in stereo two channels is permitted or inhibited are formatted and encoded, the ATSI can be normally decoded and reproduced.
