<p>An eye piece comprises an artificial sclera, an artificial cornea 2, an artificial iris 5, a lens holder 3 and an artificial lens 4 protruding from the rear surface of the lens. The lens 5 replaces the natural lens through a hole cut in the cornea (fig 3) and the hemispherical eye piece overlies and is attached to the exterior of the eyeball, e.g. with glue. The lens 5 may be fixed or may be focused by the ciliary muscle 9. The rim 1 of the eye piece may taper such that the eyelid 7 may pass over the rim. The iris 5 may be painted.</p> |
