PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for controlling operation of a robot cleaner which is enabled to effectively reduce power consumption of a battery built in a robot cleaner by switching a mode of the robot cleaner into a power saving mode or a stand-by mode when cleaning operation of the robot cleaner is stopped. SOLUTION: The device for controlling operation of a robot cleaner includes a battery provided at the robot cleaner and a means for selectively cutting off power supply of the battery to at least one means operated for cleaning when the cleaning operation of the robot cleaner is stopped.
