<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus for which the brightness of display can be adjusted in a wide range without causing an increase in power consumption, and also to provide a brightness adjustment method. <P>SOLUTION: This computer 10 has a brightness control function for switching the brightness of an LCD which includes a group of white-color LEDs 19 as light sources. To the group of white-color LEDs 19, a variable resistance circuit 40 is connected in series. The variable resistance circuit 40 comprises a resistor R0, a resistor 1, and a transistor 210. About the brightness control function when a target display brightness level is lower than a display brightness level 4, a CPU 111 sets a switching signal control data "L level" for turning off the transistor 210 in a register 124A. Then, a switching signal generator 124B generates a switching signal 30 based on the switching signal control data "L level" set in the register 124A to change a resistance value of the variable resistor circuit 40 from a first resistance value to a second resistance value which is higher than the first resistance value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
