PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording/reproducing device having a function of preventing the impossibility of recording/reproducing information in/from a rewritable optical disk. SOLUTION: When the optical disk of an information rewriting target is loaded, the error rate of the block of a RAM on the optical disk is measured. When the error rate is determined to be larger than a reference value, an alarm is displayed in a display device. Thus, as long as no user performs a recording/reproducing operation, the impossibility of recording/reproducing information in/from a rewritable optical disk is prevented.
