PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic brake control unit which prevents a malfunction of a brake caused by a secular change of brake characteristics, changes a break releasing voltage at the start of an operation of a motor (at putting power supply to work), and sets an optimal brake release holding voltage for each brake, by making a brake release holding voltage variable. SOLUTION: In the electromagnetic brake control unit with a brake voltage control unit 13, a first voltage value is applied to the electromagnetic brake 17 provided at the motor 16 driven by a motor controller to release the electromagnetic brake 17, then a second voltage value which is lower than the first voltage value is applied to retain the released state of the electromagnetic brake 17. The brake voltage control unit 13 makes the second voltage value higher only by a predetermined value, and applies it to the electromagnetic brake 17 when the electromagnetic brake 17 malfunctions during the operation of the motor 16, and the motor 16 is brought into an overload state.
