A mobile terminal having a function of transmitting a message upon dividing data and its operation method are provided to automatically or manually divide large quantity of video data and selectively transmit a portion desired to be transmitted. A memory(20) stores video data. A controller(10) controls to divide video data stored in the memory(20) into data with a certain size to thus generate a message to be transmitted. When the video data is being captured, the controller(10) controls to divide the video data into a plurality of data each with a certain size according to setting and store them.
