The open hollow profile structure of especially a metal component part of a motor vehicle has each stiffening profile or profile arrangement formed from at least two rib-like, plate-form, geometrically tolerant reinforcing elements (3), each having at least one longitudinal edge slot (4). The reinforcing elements each have a thermoplastic layer as an outer casing or cover, and in a mirror-image fashion fit one inside the other by the longitudinal edge slots in cross form with movement play.
