PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time for which a fixing roller is preheated, by securely operating a cooling fan when a power source is turned on in an image forming apparatus.
SOLUTION: At time T0, the power source of a laser beam printer is turned on and, at the same time, a control section securely starts the rotation of the cooling fan by applying a drive voltage V1, which is about two times higher than a regular drive voltage, to the cooling fan only for a first predetermined period of time. Subsequently, the control section decreases the drive voltage of the cooling fan to about 1/5 to 1/2 times as high as the regular drive voltage (second drive voltage V2), and gradually increases the drive voltage of the cooling fan so that it reaches a regular drive voltage V0 when a second predetermined period of time has passed. Thus, after the rotation of the cooling fan is started when the power source is turned on, the number of rotations of the cooling fan is restrained and hence the cooling of the fixing roller is restricted. Consequently, the temperature of the fixing roller increases in a short time.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
