摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device that can miniaturize the device or improve fuel efficiency, in a device for driving a vehicle provided with a differential mechanism which distributes the output of an engine to a motor and an output shaft. <P>SOLUTION: The driving device for a vehicle is provided with a switching clutch C0 or a switching brake B0. By this, a gear shift mechanism 10 is changed between a continuously variable shift state and a stepped shift state. Consequently, the driving device obtains improved fuel efficiency of a gear, whose speed change ratio is electrically changed, and high transmission efficiency of a gear-type transmission device which mechanically transmits power. Further, the driving device is provided with a speed-increasing part 32 which increases an engine revolution speed N<SB>E</SB>and inputs it to a differential part 11. By this, an engine torque T<SB>E</SB>to be inputted to the differential part 11 can be decreased without decreasing the output P<SB>E</SB>of the engine, and accordingly a torque capacity of a first motor M1 for responding to a reaction force torque to the maximum value of the engine torque T<SB>E</SB>can be smaller to make the first motor M1 smaller in size. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
