A name search method of a mobile terminal is provided to enhance the convenience of a user by performing searching by manipulating a small amount of keys. When a user presses a button of a keypad(403), a name including a consonant or alphabet allocated to the button is searched(406). A searched name is displayed on a screen(409). When the user presses a button for more than a certain time(412), a predetermined operation of a name corresponding to a number of the button is performed(415). When the user presses a cursor shift unit without inputting a keypad button(418,424), a selection indication moves to a name existing in a direction corresponding to the cursor shift unit(427). When the user presses a function performing unit, a predetermined operation of a name which the selection indication exists is performed(430).
