摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adaptively control a pilot injection quantity and a pilot injection starting timing. SOLUTION: A control computer C1 stores a map indicated by a graph in Fig. 1(b). The axis of abscissaθexpresses an ignition timing advance position of expressing the compression top dead center of a piston (unillustrated) in a cylinder 11 as 0°at a crank angle. The axis of ordinate Q expresses a fuel injection quantity (a pilot injection quantity) in pilot injection injected before main injection from a fuel injection nozzle 13. A curve E1 expresses a part of the map set in response to a certain temperature T1 of cooling water, and a curve E2 expresses a part of the map set in response to a certain temperature T2 (>T1) of the cooling water. The map being aggregation of a large number of curves including the curves E1 and E2 is ignition timing advance upper limit value information on the pilot injection starting timing predetermined in response to the pilot injection quantity.
