PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device and an ink-jet recording method for obtaining a suitable dot diameter regardless of types of recording media, and also, for preventing degradation of the recording quality even in high-speed recording. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording device records by discharging ink droplets from a recording element while relatively moving a head and a recording medium. The device has a recording mode selection means for selecting a recording mode corresponding to the combination of the type of recording medium with the recording quality and an image processing means including a binarization processing means for executing the binarization processing. The image processing means can execute plural types of binarization processing and executes the binarization processing specified corresponding to the recording mode selected by the recording mode selection means.
