PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluating method and a device capable of quantitatively evaluating skill of a driver, particularly, moderation of stopping. SOLUTION: This stopping moderation evaluating device analyzes a vehicle speed change for several ten seconds before reaching stopping from recording of a traveling vehicle speed recorded on a digital tachometer, and identifies time when the vehicle speed suddenly reduces in a section of a predetermined vehicle speed (for example, 25 km/h) or more as a stopping determining point. The section of reaching a zero vehicle speed from the stopping determining point is regarded as linearly reducing in the vehicle speed, and its vehicle speed gradient is set as an evaluation value. The skill of the driver can be statistically evaluated by arithmetically operating the vehicle speed gradient reaching a large number of stopping from travel recording. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
