#CMT# #/CMT# Manufacturing acrylic acid comprises oxydehydration of glycerol in the presence of molecular oxygen. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The invention deals with the manufacturing of acrylic acid (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The process is selective in producing acrylic acid. The process is uninterrupted, simple and the co-produced acrolein can either be isolated, or recycled to increase the output of acrylic acid. The process involves a reactor, which heats or cools the catalyst at the same time. #CMT#INORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The molecular oxygen is in the form of air or a mixture of gas containing molecular oxygen. The single catalyst or the oxidation catalyst is a solid containing an element of molybdenum, vanadium, tungsten, rhenium, chromium, manganese, ferrous, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, tin, tellurium, antimony, bismuth, platinum, palladium, ruthenium or rhodium, in the form of metal, oxide, sulfate or phosphate. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Process: The reaction is carried out: in the presence of a single catalyst, catalyzing the dehydration and oxidation reaction simultaneously; or in the presence of a catalyst mix catalyzing any one of the reactions. The reaction is carried out: in a gas phase; in a reactor with fixed bed, fluidized bed or circulating fluidized bed; at 250-350[deg]C; and in a plate exchanger. Preferred Components: The glycerol is in the form of aqueous solution having concentration of 10-50 (preferably 15-30) wt.%. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# The crushed and/or pelletized catalyst (0.5-1 mm) (10 ml) was placed in the reactor and the reaction was carried for 5-10 minutes before adding the reagents. Aqueous solution of glycerol (20 wt.%) was added into the reactor at an average rate of 12 ml/hour, and the molecular oxygen was added at a rate of 0.8 l/hour. The aqueous glycerol solution was vaporized in the heated reactor and passed on the catalyst and allowed to contact for about 2.9 seconds. After the reaction, the products were condensed in a vessel cooled by crushed ice with the removal of effluents periodically to obtain acrylic acid.
|
