<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system and method in which setting changes of a number of communication terminals are performed at high speed with high security. <P>SOLUTION: When performing a setting change of an IP phone terminal, a remote reset device 50 registers subscriber information of the relevant IP phone terminal and calls this IP phone terminal. If it is call arrival from a calling source registered in advance, the IP phone terminal transmits a setting request to a setting server 40. Setting information received from the setting server 40 as a response is set and a setting completion notification is transmitted to the remote reset device 50.
