<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recording to a rewritable optical recording medium to which a phase-change technology is applied and where the CAV recording is possible at a maximum recording speed of more than 8X DVD+RW recording speed and the CAV (constant angular velocity) recording method that enables recording at any recording speed equal to or lower than the maximum recording speed. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of recording information to the optical recording medium comprising recording of a mark of time length nT (n: natural number of 3 or more, T: clock cycle) in an optical recording medium capable of supporting different recording speeds and having constant information line density, the optical recording medium is irradiated with light of alternating m<SB>1</SB>heating pulses of power Pw and m<SB>1</SB>cooling pulses of power Pc (where m<SB>1</SB>is a natural number smaller than n) provided v<v<SB>0</SB>(where v is a scanning speed and v<SB>0</SB>is a scanning speed unique to each optical recording medium) and the optical recording medium is irradiated with light of alternating m<SB>2</SB>heating pulses of power Pw and m<SB>2</SB>cooling pulses of power Pc (where m<SB>2</SB>is a natural number smaller than n) provided v≥v<SB>0</SB>, wherein the condition n/m<SB>1</SB>≥n/m<SB>2</SB>is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
