PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a numerical control system that automate the installation of both a general-purpose OS and CNC software and the setup of parameters through easy operation. SOLUTION: When the electric power source is turned ON, a BOOT device detecting means detects a device to be booted first (S1). Once a device for data exchange is detected, the BOOT operation is performed from the device for data exchange (memory card etc.). A processing program for data exchange set as software to be started at booting is actuated (S3) to detect a file for data exchange. The type code of a numerical controller to be used is referred to at this time and data matching the type code is selected and employed. The file for data exchange is transferred to an internal storage device on the side connected to the data exchange device (S4), and then the file for data exchange is transferred to an internal storage device on a side not connected to the data exchange device. Further, an application program installed on the side of the general OS is actuated to perform a process of automatically setting various parameters (control variable, processing condition data, etc.) at need.
