Novel phosphine transition metal complexes having an excellent anticancer potency, represented by the general formula: (1) wherein each of R¹ and R³ is an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, pyridyl or pyrimidyl; each of R² and R⁴ is an alkyl or a cycloalkyl, provided that R¹ and R², also R³ and R⁴, are not identical groups; A is a linear alkylene or cisvinylene; M is a gold, silver, cupper or platinum atom; and B is an anion species.
