An LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to solve the problem, such as reduction of aperture ration due to shift of print patterns, etc., by forming a portion of the print patterns in a straight line shape. A gate line(210) and a data line(220) cross each other above a transparent insulating substrate, and are respectively extended in first and second directions. A gate insulating layer is formed to cover the resultant substrate comprising the gate and data lines. A thin film transistor has a gate electrode, a semiconductor layer, a source electrode, and a drain electrode. A passivation layer is formed to cover the resultant substrate comprising the thin film transistor. The gate line is formed in a straight line shape of the first direction, and connected to the gate line in a single body.
