<p>Methods are provided for identifying compounds that decrease the expression or activity of an overexpressed Sprouty protein in certain cancers. Such compounds can be useful for treating cancers in which a Sprouty protein is overexpressed. Also provided are therapeutic formulations and pharmaceutical formulations for treating cancers characterized by overexpression of a Sprouty protein.</p>
