PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable apparatus for cutting a core wire having a superior workability in spite of a lightweight, small and simple structure, wherein a core wire clamping part immediately discharges the cut piece of the fiber outside the apparatus simultaneously with the cutting of the core wire. SOLUTION: A skimmer control function is added to a mechanism that holds a part of the core wire of the optical fiber to be cut and removed and that applies tension in the tip end direction of the core wire. When a cutting mechanism cuts off the core wire of optical fiber, the mechanism for holding the cut piece of the core wire starts to move by the force of the tension applying mechanism and, by opening the skimmer near a moving terminating position, quickly discharges the cut piece of the core wire outside the apparatus.
