A sewing machine having an apparatus for detecting the remaining amount of the lower yarn is provided to ring an alarm when a bobbin of the lower yarn is not rotated above 5 times. A motor(110) is installed at a body plate(100). A needle rod(120) has a pair of needles(121) operated upwardly and downwardly by the power transmitted from the motor. A lower yarn providing member(200) is located at the lower portion of the needle rod and includes a pair of shuttles(210). A lower yarn winding member(300) is driven by the power transmitted from the motor. A lower yarn bobbin unwinding number sensing member(220) is equipped to the lower yarn providing member. A control member(400) is connected to the winding and unwinding number sensing members.
