The unit has a pin releasably retained in a front end of housing and adapted to be secured to a pair of separable vehicle parts. A charge support plug (1) is fitted through a rear end of the housing and carries a pyrotechnic charge turned towards the front end. The charge is installed into a casing (2) and fixed by a latch unit (3). The latch unit bearing is provided forward on the support plug and rearward on the casing.
