PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake system in which swirl is generated in a combustion chamber by the shape of an intake pipe, and the height of a vehicle-mounted engine is miniaturized. SOLUTION: In a cylinder head 31 constituting the engine body, the intake pipe 61 having intake ports 35a, 35b, and an exhaust pipe 62 having exhaust ports 36a, 36b are provided, and those intake and exhaust ports are respectively opened to the combustion chamber. The intake ports 35a, 35b and the exhaust ports 36a, 36b are provided respectively on right and left sides of the engine body in the direction in which the vehicle is headed. In the intake pipe 61, a curved section 63 is provided which is formed by bending the front section of the cylinder head 31 around the side of the engine body. Much more amount of fresh air is streamed from the intake port 35a into the combustion chamber than that from the intake port 35b to produce swirls in the combustion chamber.
