PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless base station apparatus the communication capability of which can be enhanced by properly selecting a communication system on the basis of a communication state of its own apparatus and to provide a method of selecting a communication system and a communication system selection program.

SOLUTION: The wireless base station apparatus includes: a reception processing section 100 that selectively executes a first communication mode wherein data from a plurality of wireless terminals or a single wireless terminal are extracted by receiving multiplexed wireless signals in the same position of slots or a second communication mode wherein data from the wireless terminals or the single wireless terminal are extracted by receiving multiplexed wireless signals in the same position of slots whose number is smaller than that of the first communication mode or data from the single wireless terminal are extracted by receiving wireless signals that are not multiplexed; a communication state detection section 51 for detecting a communication state with the wireless terminals; and a communication system selection section 50 for selecting whether the reception processing section 100 is to execute the first communication mode or to execute the second communication mode on the basis of the detected communication state.
