An indoor unit of an air conditioner is provided to realize rapid and concentrative air blow from right or left side of the indoor unit by forming air outlets to right and left sides of a cabinet and mounting covers thereto. An indoor unit of an air conditioner includes a cabinet formed with air outlets(55,54) at right and left sides respectively. An outlet door(79) is driven by a door opening/closing element(80) to alternatively closes one of the right and left outlets. The outlet door includes right and left doors(78,77) and a carrier(84) connected thereto via hooks. The door opening/closing element includes a motor(81) having a protruded rotation shaft, a driving gear such as a pinion(82) axially mounted to the rotation shaft, and a driven gear such as a rack(83) formed to the carrier and engaged with the driving gear. The carrier slides right or left by a carrier guide provided to the cabinet or the carrier, wherein the carrier guide has a protruded stop guide for preventing deviation of the carrier and guiding the right and left sliding of the carrier. |
