An apparatus for compensating a position of a chip on a chip tray is provided to reduce manufacture costs of transfer apparatus and transfer time of a chip by using an image recognition system. An image recognition system(100) is comprised of an image camera(110) for imaging an alignment status of a chip, an error calculating computer(120) for calculating an alignment error based on the image from the image camera, and a display(130) for displaying the image. A chip tray(200) mounts and arranges the chips to be transferred. An alignment module(300) is coupled to a lower of the chip tray to adjust vertical, horizontal, and rotational angles thereof in response to a signal from a controller(400). The controller is connected to the error calculating computer to receive an error signal. The controller generates a moving control signal based on the error signal.
