摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for detecting a longitudinal rip in a belt conveyor in a non-contact way. SOLUTION: A slit beam of a laser beam, or a red laser beam of a wavelength of 660nM, preferably, is radiated to a lower surface of a conveyor belt 1. An optically cut image is photographed by an industrial camera 3 such as a CCD camera through passage filter of the wavelength of the laser beam as necessary. For the slit beam on the conveyor belt 1, two beams are radiated from the right and left side of the lower surface of the conveyor belt 1 to keep a gap in the length direction of the conveyor belt 1. Optically cut images by the respective slit beams are photographed, and obtained images are image-processed by an image processing device 5, thereby longitudinal rip detection information of the conveyor belt 1 is provided.
