PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a difluorobenzene derivative useful as an electrooptical liquid crystal display material, a liquid crystal composition comprising the same, a liquid crystal display device obtained using the same, and a liquid crystal compound having negative dielectric anisotropy and low viscosity. SOLUTION: The difluorobenzene derivative is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SP>a</SP>is a 2-7C alkenyl group; p1 and p2 are each independently 1 or 2; and the sum of p1 and p2 is at most 3).
