PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent display quality from deteriorating due to erroneous discharging by a driving method for a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: In the driving method for an AC plasma display panel constituted so that while one field period comprises a plurality of subfields having an initialization period, a write period, and a sustain period, part of sustain operation in a sustain period of at least one of the plurality of subfields and part of initializing operation in an initialization period of a subfield following the subfield are carried out simultaneously, starting sustain pulses in sustain periods are made different in pulse width among the plurality of subfields, and erroneous discharge is limited to low SFs even if occurring to suppress the lightness of the erroneous discharge.
