<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a water-based pigment dispersion for preparing a water-based pigment recording liquid exhibiting excellent jetting stability in a thermal inkjet printer, and the water-based pigment recording liquid. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the water-based pigment dispersion for inkjet printers comprising a quinacridone pigment coated with an organic polymer compound having a neutralized anionic group comprises finely dispersing the quinacridone pigment by feeding a dispersion, using a dispersion medium agitation type dispersing apparatus having a rotor and a separator in a cylindrical grinding part as the dispersion apparatus, so that the applied energy efficiency in the dispersing apparatus is 7.5-15 kwh/kg.
