The present invention relates to fire alarm devices. The proposed smoke fire detector contains a main light emitter, a diaphragm, which is arranged in front of the main emitter, a photodetector, a square pulse generator, a reference light emitter with a diaphragm, and a screen. The main emitter is connected to the output of the pulse generator. The reference emitter is connected to the output of the pulse generator via an inverter and amplitude regulator. The screen is arranged between the main emitter and the photodetector. The main emitter is installed at an angle to the sensitivity axis of the photodetector. The ratio between the diameters of the apertures of the said diaphragms is 3 ... 4. The proposed fire detector is distinctive by its enhanced sensitivity and improved performance.
