<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device and position detecting method capable of improving the accuracy of face detection more. <P>SOLUTION: The position detecting device for detecting a position in an image of a particular object and an inclination to a reference line of an image of a virtual center line at the position from an image obtained by photographing the object whose virtual center line can be detected from characteristics on the image, divides an assumed inclination range of a virtual center line with respect to the reference line into a plurality of ranges, respectively processes the photographed image by processors corresponding to the plurality of divided ranges and detects the position in the image of the object and the inclination of the virtual center line with respect to the reference line at the position on the basis of processed results. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
