<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus carrying out optimum image control, while shortening the time required for density adjustment operation. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a light quantity Sig.RB in an intermediate transfer belt (ITB) 30, measured during power source connection of the image forming apparatus and during an adjustment for image writing start position (automatic registration compensation) carried out for each 300 times of image formation, other than the measuring of density in a density patch. Accordingly, there is no need to separately derive the reflected quantity of a base for ITB, after the density measurement for the density patch. Furthermore, an image will not be formed on a passage of an optical sensor, and the reflected light quantity of an endless belt is measured, at the same time as an image adjustment process which is executed at a fixed interval. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
