PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of updating map data of also an area other than the periphery of a recommended route, in a navigation device capable of partially updating the map data. SOLUTION: VICS information transmitted from a VICS center is received by a VICS receiving part 19, and a VICS link ID in the received VICS information is collated with a map link ID in map data recorded in an HDD 18 on reference to information showing a correspondence relation between a VICS link ID, stored beforehand and the map link ID. The mesh, including a VICS link ID wherein a corresponding map link ID does not exist, is specified from the collation result, and updated map data in the mesh are downloaded from an updated map data delivery center to the navigation device, to thereby partially update the map data recorded in the HDD 18.
