<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection device for a hydraulic elevator capable of reporting abnormal condition before non-startability (starting failure) of the hydraulic elevator, allowing a maintenance worker dispatched for abnormality countermeasures of the hydraulic elevator to more accurately, quickly, and surely deal with maintenance for every site, thereby avoiding the failure. <P>SOLUTION: The abnormality detection device 15 for the hydraulic elevator is provided with a detection device for detecting load quantity, speed, acceleration, and oil temperature of hydraulic fluid of the hydraulic elevator when a car 1 of the hydraulic elevator moves up and down; a storage part for storing a detection value output from the detection means; a determination value storing part for storing a determination value previously stored separately from the detection value; an abnormality determination means for comparing and evaluating the detection value and the determination value to determine abnormality.
